The view towards Brothers Water from High Hartsop Dodd
What Wainwright said:

"High Hartsop Dodd, seen from the valley near Brothers Water, has the appearance of an isolated mountain whit a peaked summit and steep sides, a very shapely pyramid rising from green fields."

High Hartsop Dodd forms the end of the north eastern ridge of Little Hart Crag and can readily be seen from the A592 alongside Brothers Water. There are three Dodds when viewed from Hartsop, the others being (Low) Hartsop Dodd and Middle Dodd. The names refer to their position in the valley rather than their height. All three present an imposing pyramidal profile when seen from below, totally obscuring their parent fells.

Caiston Glen, falling from the summit of Scandale Pass, separates the fell from Middle Dodd and its parent Red Screes which the Kirkstone Pass isolates it from the fells in the opposite valley.

The summit is home to a small cairn at the point where the ridge briefly levels out. The view is limited due the higher fells surrounding, but many of these are seen in close detail. Looking north, however, provides an excellent view of the Hartsop valley and the southern end of Ullswater.
