Grisedale Pike's summit and impressive view
What Wainwright said:

“All visitors to Lakeland who come to walk on the hills turn their footsteps to Grisedale Pike. It is seldom a prime objective but the graceful peak piercing the western sky is a nagger of conscience and cannot long be ignored”.

Grisedale Pike, located west of Keswick, has a striking appearance, particularly when viewed from the east. The fine pyramidal mountain links to Hopegill Head and has two further ridges that reach to the valley below. Like Grizedale Forest and Grasmoor, Grisedale Pike takes it name from the Old Norse "grise" for wild boar. Grisedale Pike also sits at the very head of Grisedale, hence it's name not being Coledale Pike.

The summit features a small cairn though, thanks to its shape, the summit is easy to distinguish. Views are very good from Grisedale Pike, the highlight being the striking Hopegill Head, the next mountain along the ridge.
